Chandra Upreti is a Small Business Owner and Realtor. He gives his perspective from his experience of growing up in a refugee camp in Nepal for 17 years to thriving in Idaho. He shares how important being persistent, disciplined, and focusing on what you can control and letting go of the things you have no control over. Now that he has overcome so many obstacles, he gives back in a variety of meaningful ways that bring meaning and purpose to his life and his community and abroad.
After spending 17 years of life full of struggles and challenges, Chandra moved to Twin Falls, Idaho in 2008 where he was resettled in Twin Falls through CSI Refugee Programs. Upon moving to Twin Falls at the age of 17, Chandra started working as a volunteer at the Refugee Programs, and later he started working for the same program that helped in resettled in his new home. During his decade-long service at the CSI Refugee Programs, he held different positions including Reception and Placement Co-ordinator, Case Manager, and Fiscal Specialist. To continue his passion for education, Chandra started attending classes at CSI and later at Idaho State University. Chandra holds a Bachelor of Science and a Masters Degree in Business Administration. Today, Chandra Upreti is a multi-million dollar agent-producer in the Magic Valley area. He also owns an Indian Restaurant in Twin Falls Called called ‘Saffron’, where he partners with non-profit organizations to provide free food vouchers to people who are fighting food insecurities.
